Tamborine Mountain Family Photography – McDowell Family
Tamborine Mountain Family Photography – The McDowell Family

We shot their family portraits at the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens. This is fast becoming my favourite place in the world to shoot! Even though it was well into winter, there were still some beautiful autumnal leaves on the trees.

Ashlee came to me because she wanted to have some photographs taken of her breastfeeding Oliver. They have had a tough road with breastfeeding and it was such a joy to be able to help her celebrate everything that she has been through. I will tell Ashlee’s breastfeeding story in a future blog post – hopefully it will be an inspiration to other new mums!
After Oliver had his fill of milk and had a short nap, he woke up ready to play with his mummy and daddy! He is such a happy little lad, and gave us all the smiles and giggles. The images of Ashlee and Shawn singing to Oliver are just the most beautiful photographs and I am so proud of the love and connection that I was able to capture for them.

Ashlee wore a green long sleeved maxi dress with a gorgeous floral pattern. The skirt was quite full and we were able to arrange it beautifully on the ground for some of the shoot – arranging dresses reminded me of my wedding photography days! Shawn chose a salmon pink t shirt to tie in with the flowers on Ashlee’s dress, with a pair of light brown jeans, brown boots and a denim shirt over the top and totally nailed the smart/casual look!

And let’s not forget the star of the show…..Oliver rocking a khaki coloured shirt, blue jeans and the cutest little brown leather shoes I have ever seen! The clothes that Ashlee picked out for him really complimented what she and Shawn were wearing – well done mumma!
Ashlee & Shawn purchased a beautiful keepsake portrait box with their favourite images from the session, along with a big canvas to take pride of place on their wall. I can’t wait to see photos of it up in their home!
Straight after the shoot, I received this lovely email from them:
“You are so sweet. Thankyou. We had a great time. You made us feel extremely comfortable. Thankyou so much for having us.”
I was so happy that they felt this way, so many of my clients tell me that they are really nervous prior to the shoot but I pride myself in making sure that everyone is relaxed and has fun during my portrait sessions. It shows in the finished product too!
